Marrow Get the app

Effective September 16, 2026

Terms of Use

Marrow is free software, with an optional paid tier called Marrow Pro, published by Aidan Hall, sole proprietor, doing business as Skeleton Army. By installing or using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, delete the app.

Marrow is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It displays and organizes data you already have, and estimates nutrition from photos. Nothing in it diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any condition. Do not use it to make medical decisions. Talk to a qualified clinician about your health, and call emergency services in an emergency.

1. The license you get

Marrow is distributed through the App Store under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control. These terms supplement that agreement. Where they conflict, Apple's agreement governs the license itself and these terms govern everything else.

2. Beta software

Marrow is in active development. The core app is free of charge; Marrow Pro is an optional subscription described below. Features may change, break, or be removed. Data formats may change between versions. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, which the app makes easy through its export tools.

3. AI estimates are estimates

Photo, text and voice food logging use an AI model to guess what a food is and roughly what it contains. It is frequently wrong about portion size and sometimes wrong about the food itself. Marrow always shows you what it detected and lets you edit it before anything is logged, and you are responsible for confirming it. Do not rely on these estimates where accuracy materially matters to your health, including for managing diabetes, allergies, kidney disease, or any restricted diet. Always check the actual label or ingredients when it counts.

3a. Marrow Pro

Marrow Pro unlocks unlimited AI food logging, Connect your AI (a hosted copy that ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini can read), and campus dining menus. Everything else in Marrow, including every Apple Health metric, food and workout logging, exports, the on-device agent server, self-hosted mirrors and automations, is free and stays free.

Pro is sold through Apple as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, at the prices shown in the app. Subscriptions may start with a free trial; the trial converts to the paid plan unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple ID settings. Payment, refunds and cancellation are handled by Apple under its terms; we cannot issue refunds directly. If we discontinue a Pro feature, we will say so in the app with reasonable notice.

The AI plan of a third party is separate: connecting ChatGPT or Gemini requires a paid plan from those providers; Claude works on its free plan at the time of writing. We do not control their availability or pricing.

4. Your data and your destinations

Your health data belongs to you. As described in the Privacy Policy, it stays on your device unless you deliberately export it, pair a server, connect an agent, or turn on Connect your AI, in which case a copy lives on our server until you disconnect. When you send your data somewhere, you choose that destination and you accept its risks. We do not control, monitor, or take responsibility for third-party servers, AI clients, or self-hosted instances you connect to, including any you configure incorrectly.

5. Acceptable use

Use Marrow for your own health data. Do not use it to:

We may block a device or discontinue a free service in response to abuse.

6. Third-party services

Marrow relies on Apple HealthKit, Google's Gemini API for photo, text and voice analysis, and Open Food Facts for barcode and food lookup. Those services have their own terms and their own availability, and their failures are not ours to fix. Nutrition data from Open Food Facts is community contributed and may be inaccurate or incomplete.

7. Availability

The food service is rate limited, currently to three AI logs per device per day on the free plan and a higher ceiling on Pro, and the limits may change. Connect your AI depends on our server being up. We do not promise uptime and may take it offline at any time. Every other feature, including all Apple Health reading, food search, manual entry, workouts, exports, and MCP access, works without our servers and keeps working if we go dark.

8. Intellectual property

The Marrow app, name, and site are owned by Aidan Hall. These terms grant no rights to our trademarks. Content you create in the app, including your logs and exports, remains yours.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Marrow is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error free, that data will sync correctly, or that estimates will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aidan Hall and Skeleton Army will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or health outcomes, arising from your use of Marrow. Total liability for any claim relating to Marrow will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or twenty five US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Termination

You may stop using Marrow at any time by deleting the app, which deletes its local data. We may suspend access to the free photo service for abuse as described above. Sections 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to that jurisdiction. Nothing here waives any consumer right you hold under the mandatory law of your home country.

13. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for Marrow. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Marrow. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you as a user. Any claim that Marrow fails to conform to a warranty may be reported to Apple, and Apple's sole obligation would be a refund of the purchase price, if any.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted by an updated effective date and described in the app's release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
