marrow pro / chatgpt · claude · gemini / approved from your phone
Connect your AI to Marrow.
One link that ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini can read any time, with your phone asleep and nothing for you to run. Marrow keeps a private copy of your data on its server; your AI signs in once, and you approve that sign-in from your phone. This is the Marrow Pro door. The four free doors keep everything on your own phone or hardware.
Why this exists
ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all run in their makers' clouds. They can only reach a server with a public address, and a phone on home Wi-Fi is not one. Marrow's free Local MCP works while the app is open on your own network, and the free Server MCP works around the clock if you run a small server yourself. Connect is for everyone who wants neither condition: we run the server.
What it does
- You tap Turn on Connect in the Export tab. Marrow creates a private mirror on our server and fills it from your phone, most recent data first, then history. Uploads run in the background from then on, so the copy stays current.
- You paste one link into your AI as a custom connector or plugin.
- The AI signs in. The sign-in page shows a six-character code; you type that code into Marrow and tap Approve. Only then does the AI receive a token.
- Ask anything. Eight read-only tools answer from the copy:
health_summary,list_metrics,metric_daily,metric_samples,workouts,nutrition_log,strength_log,sleep_log. - Disconnect deletes the copy and cuts off every connected AI at once.
Which AIs, which plans
| AI | Where to add the link | Their plan |
|---|---|---|
| Claude | claude.ai: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. Works in the phone app too. | Free plan works |
| ChatGPT | chatgpt.com on a computer: Settings, Security and login, Developer mode; then chatgpt.com/plugins, +, Server URL, Authentication OAuth. Then works in the phone app. | Paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business) |
| Gemini | Gemini app: Spark, Connected apps, Add a custom app. | Google AI Pro or Ultra; US, personal account, 18+ |
The steps are also inside the app, under each AI's name on the Connect card. If a page asks you to sign in with a Marrow account: there is no such thing. The only sign-in is the code you type into the app.
Security
- The link is not a password. Anyone holding it can only start a sign-in request, which does nothing until you type its code into Marrow. Three wrong codes deny the request; requests expire in ten minutes.
- Only the Marrow app can create a mirror; the request is signed by the app.
- Tokens are issued with PKCE, expire, and are stored hashed on our side. Reads are read-only and rate limited.
- You can see every connected AI and how many questions it has asked, and revoke by disconnecting.
What we store, honestly
While Connect is on, our server holds a copy of the same records the app shows: Apple Health metrics, meals, workouts, strength sets and sleep. It lives on a server in the United States, protected by hashed access tokens, and we log only request paths and status codes. We could technically read it while it exists; we do not, and we are building toward a version where we cannot. Traffic passes through Cloudflare. Tapping Disconnect deletes it immediately. Full detail in the privacy policy.
If that trade is not for you, nothing changes: the Local MCP, Server MCP, Automations and Files doors are free, and none of them involve a server of ours.
Pricing
Connect is part of Marrow Pro: $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $59.99 once for lifetime. Pro also removes the daily limit on AI food logging and adds campus dining menus. Billing is through Apple; cancel any time in your Apple ID settings. Your AI's own plan is separate and is theirs to bill.
Troubleshooting
- The AI says it cannot connect. Make sure Authentication is set to OAuth (ChatGPT) and that you approved the code in Marrow within ten minutes.
- Old data only. Open Marrow and watch the bar at the top of the Connect card; the copy finishes fastest with the app open. Sync now forces a push.
- No + button on chatgpt.com/plugins. Developer mode must be on under Settings, Security and login, and the page reloaded. Free ChatGPT accounts cannot add plugins.
- Gemini has no Connected apps. Custom apps need Gemini Spark, which comes with Google AI Pro or Ultra on a personal account.
